Which kite should you choose?

For most beginners, choosing the right equipment is a key concern, ensuring that their first solo sessions on the water are a pure pleasure. Safety is also paramount, so it's crucial that all details are carefully selected and meticulously crafted to avoid accidents.

Choosing a kite for kitesurfing is very similar to choosing a board, as the factors and parameters are similar. The user's weight and the kite's intended use are key factors in choosing the kite of your dreams.

Kitesurfing kites, like boards, can be divided into wave, freeride, and freestyle. They are also divided into two types: chambered and inflatable.

Cellular kites, as the name suggests, inflate their chambers with the force of the wind. They are less popular and primarily used by advanced users. They perform well in lighter winds. They usually come in enormous sizes. They are certainly not suitable for beginners, as if the kite falls into the water, it may be impossible to launch it back into the air. Therefore, advanced skills are required.

The second type are inflatable kites, which are used by both beginners and advanced riders. The inflatable tube provides a high level of safety, as the kite will always stay afloat, and in an emergency, it can also be used as a life raft.

However, choosing the right size at the final stage of purchase can be revealing, as it's no longer so heavily influenced by weight. Here, you should focus on the surrounding weather conditions and wind strength. The stronger the wind, the smaller the kite you need. If you encounter stronger winds, you'll need a larger kite surface area (given in square meters at the time of purchase). If you really plan to take this seriously, you should remember that it's worth building and expanding your kite base with various sizes and ensuring they're designed for their intended use. Advanced riders often have three to five kites in their kite ...

It's important to remember that a kite isn't everything and won't sail for us. We also need a bar, which is the connection between the surfer and the kite using lines. These also come in varying widths and lengths to suit the user.
