What to pack for a snowboarding trip
When packing, it's always helpful to have a checklist from which you can cross off items you've already purchased and packed. Creating such a list can be challenging, especially if you're going snowboarding for the first time. We've prepared a little guide on what to pack for your snowboarding trip!
First of all, equipment!
And we're not just talking about the board, although you shouldn't forget to bring that, of course. Below is a list of essential equipment for safe fun on the slopes:
- Snowboard and cover
- Snowboard boots
- Snowboarding jacket and pants
- Snowboard gloves - it's good to have two pairs of these, in case they get wet
- Helmet - although not mandatory for adults, it is still recommended!
- Goggles, glasses with UV filter
- Balaclava, preferably seamless
- Shoe dryer
- Screwdriver
Clothing suitable for the slopes..
Although snowboarding gear is usually waterproof, low temperatures can be a surprise. Therefore, it's worth remembering these few details; their number depends, of course, on the length of your trip and your laundry availability.
- Thermal underwear
- Ski socks
- Warm fleece under the jacket
- Thermal trousers - at least 2 pairs
- Sweatshirt and thermal shirt - at least 2 pairs
Remember, we'll only be spending part of our trip on the slopes. The rest of the time will be spent in a hotel or mountain hut. If you're thinking about evening outings, you should also include that on your packing list.
- Hat, winter jacket and gloves
- Long trousers
- Winter boots
- Warm socks
- T-shirts
- Underwear
- Sweatshirt or sweater
- Swimsuit
- Shower flip-flops
- Pajamas
- Dress/Evening Outfit
After all, it's important not to forget about basic hygiene. It's easier to take your favorite products with you than to realize during your evening bath that you have nothing to wash off the sweat after a day of fun.
- Hair shampoo
- Shower gel
- Cream with UV filter for use in frosty conditions
- Protective lipstick with filter
- Antiperspirant
- Toothpaste and toothbrush
- Hairbrush
- Antibacterial gel
- First aid kit containing a bandage, elastic bandage, safety pin, plasters, ointment for bruises, painkillers and diarrhea tablets
While this may seem obvious, it's worth adding documents like your ID card or passport to your list to ensure they're included. It's also worth taking your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), especially if you're traveling abroad. Of course, no one plans to be hospitalized on vacation, but it's certainly best to have one in case of an emergency. Another useful tip is to place your documents in a ziplock bag to protect them from damage.
A common mistake when packing is overpacking unnecessary items. This complicates travel and can leave your suitcase with insufficient space for what you really need. Packing is probably the least enjoyable part of a trip, but by sticking to this checklist, you'll definitely arrive at the slopes prepared!
