Safety rules in the times of COVID-19
The global coronavirus epidemic and rising COVID-19 infections have left us all facing a new reality. Today, the safety of slope users no longer depends solely on skill and protective equipment, such as helmets, but also on adhering to the rules that have been in place nationwide since the beginning of the pandemic. Snowboarding is associated with travel and the catering industry, industries where certain restrictions and specially designed rules still apply. Today, we'll explore the topic of slope safety in the time of COVID-19.
Keep your distance!
While COVID-19 cases have reduced and we can now move around outdoors without a face mask, this doesn't mean we shouldn't still take steps to avoid potential infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. To this end, it's still recommended to maintain a safe distance of approximately 2 meters from other slope users when queuing at the ticket office and for the lift.
Don't forget your mask
It's important to remember that while we no longer need a mask outdoors, we will need one if we want to go indoors. So, don't forget to wear one when going to the restroom or when visiting restaurants. Guidelines state that masks must be worn in food establishments, except when eating.
Follow the regulations
While it may seem tedious or unnecessary, the ski slope regulations have been adapted to meet sanitary requirements. This was done to ensure that the slopes remained open while also ensuring their safety. If lifts and slopes become further outbreak hotspots, another set of government restrictions will force them to close again.
Maintain good hand hygiene
If you've decided to take a break and pop into a restaurant for a quick snack, remember to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water for at least 30 seconds before your meal. Also, use the available hand sanitizers. Avoid touching your face and eyes on the slopes, even if you're wearing gloves. You can also add some antibacterial gel to your first aid kit so you can use it if necessary.
Pay in a modern way!
Whenever possible, use cashless payments instead of handing over cash. Many such solutions are available: card payments using a chip, magnetic stripe, or PayPass technology, electronic transfers made online, and payments with a BLIK code. You can choose a convenient payment method while ensuring security.
If you follow the above tips, you'll ensure a safe skiing experience for both yourself and others. And the foundation for great snowboarding fun is "safety first!"
