HOW TO CHOOSE A SNOWBOARD?
MYTH OR TRUTH?
When you stand behind your board, its length should end somewhere between your nose and chin?
That might be true, but it's the details that matter most. These days, boards are equipped with advanced technology, but there are still things your snowboard will never do: it won't ring you on your birthday, help you move into your third-story apartment, or guess how tall you are.
However, it will know how much you weigh and how big your shoes are - these are aspects that, in our opinion, determine the right board size for you.
LIBRA:
Each board size is assigned a recommended weight (from minimum to maximum). You'll find information about the recommended weight range on the sticker attached to the bottom of a new board or in the size chart on the specific model's website. Remember, this is just a suggestion, and the board can perform just as well if you're outside the range and feel comfortable on it.
The rule is simple: If you are slightly below the scale, the board will be slightly stiffer and vice versa - if your weight is above the suggested maximum, the board will be softer.
SHOE SIZE:
More important than the board's length is its WIDTH. The size of your boots affects the size of your bindings, and therefore the relationship between the binding and the board, i.e., edge control.
If the board is too wide for you, it will be harder to transition from edge to edge and control the board during the turn. If the board is too narrow, you risk catching your boots on the snow when you lean into the turn.
DRIVING STYLE
When choosing a board, just like when buying boots, you should consider your riding style first. Those who prefer deep powder will likely prefer a slightly longer board for greater stability. For those who enjoy riding rails and boxes, we recommend something shorter, which will make the board easier to maneuver.
Your weight and boot size are the most important factors when choosing your gear, but remember: just like snowboarding, your board size is a matter of personal preference.
