 Vinylon F – Backpack fabrics typically require a protective coating of polyurethane (PU) or silicone to make them waterproof. Vinylon fibers behave like natural fibers in this regard, swelling when exposed to moisture. This also makes the fabric more compact and able to withstand more moisture without the need for a coating. This characteristic, combined with Vinylon F's exceptional durability, is one of the reasons this material has been used in Kånken backpacks since the late 1970s.
